Return & Cancellation Policy

Every book we make is printed to order. We don't keep finished copies on a shelf or resell them. Each book is printed, bound, and finished specifically for you, to the specifications you approve. Because of this, returns and refunds work differently from a store selling stock items. Please read this policy before placing your order.

Standard orders and special orders

Standard orders are the products and specifications we offer as standard and that you can configure and price through our online price calculator, such as our regular trim sizes, bindings, papers, and quantities.

Special orders are custom orders that fall outside our standard production and the options shown in the calculator. This includes premium finishing (foil stamping, spot UV, embossing), specialty cover materials (linen, faux leather), non-standard papers, custom binding, and anything else we quote for you individually.

The sections below explain how each type is handled.

Special orders are final

Special orders are made specifically for you and often involve custom materials, finishing, or production runs we source and arrange on your behalf. Placing a special order is a commitment, because we begin sourcing materials for your project as soon as it is placed.

After you place a special order, we source the materials and produce a first sample for you to review. Samples come after ordering, not before, because the materials are sourced specifically for your project.

If you reject the first sample, you can request a refund of what you paid, minus the cost of the materials we have already sourced and the sample itself. That deduction is usually about 20% of your order value, so you would typically receive about 80% back. If instead you choose to proceed, we work with you to adjust the details and then print your full run, and from that point the sale is final and can't be cancelled or refunded.

If we make a mistake on a special order, we'll still make it right. See "Damaged, defective, or misprinted orders" below.

Cancellations

Standard orders move into production quickly. You can cancel a standard order within 1 hour of placing it. To cancel, email us at [[email protected]] before that hour is up, with your order number and a request to cancel. After 1 hour, the order has entered production and can no longer be cancelled or refunded.

Proof approval and content

You're responsible for the files and proof you approve, including spelling, grammar, layout, formatting, image resolution, color, and overall design. We print exactly what you approve, so please review your proof carefully. We can't accept returns or issue refunds for content errors or quality concerns in material you've signed off on.

Damaged, defective, or misprinted orders

If something is wrong on our end, we'll make it right. That covers printing or binding defects, damage in transit, the wrong item, or a packaging or labeling error we made.

To report an issue, contact us within 14 days of delivery with:

  • Your order number and order date
  • A description of the problem
  • Clear photos showing the issue (required before we can proceed)

For confirmed production or shipping errors on our side, we'll reprint and reship the affected books at no cost to you. Where a reprint isn't possible, we may issue a refund instead. Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method within 5 to 10 business days.

Returns and reshipping

Because every book is printed to order, we don't accept returned books for refund. If an order is returned to us for a reason that isn't our fault, such as an incorrect or incomplete shipping address or a package left unclaimed, you'll be responsible for the cost of reshipping it. We'll contact you to confirm the address and arrange the additional charge before sending it again. Returned orders aren't eligible for a partial or full refund.

Shipping

Shipping and handling charges are non-refundable except where we made an error. Orders ship from our production facility, and international transit times vary by destination. If a package is lost or significantly delayed, contact us and we'll help track it and, where applicable, file a claim with the carrier.
